6.1.4.1.1. DNAOS Generalized and Integrated Knowledge Resource Modeling and Semantics

Modeling is a sophisticated process with three main basic process and related resource types:

• Representation: where symbols are representational knowledge resources defined and created to represent modeled knowledge resources. These symbols can be of many different kinds, including diagrams, pictures, sounds, 3D, animation, etc, or any combination thereof
• Semantics Management: managing the meaning of the symbols, defining and mapping their relations to the modeled knowledge resources. Semantics are also knowledge resources, in fact, they are instances of a knowledge resource relation archetype, defining the relation between the symbols and the modeled resources
• Projection: While symbols are assembled to represent and define modeled resources, the resulting models need to be considered from any viewpoints. Accordingly, viewpoints need to be defined and even possibly modeled, compared, reconciled. Viewpoints essentially define what aspects of the models are to be viewed. In addition, Perspectives also need to be defined to specify how the selected aspects are to be viewed. Mapping a model to a view, the model is projected onto a view. In 3D, for example, this process is typically iterated at high rates, to match viewpoint changes

With the Cosmos Square knowledge sharing virtual environment, the effective model viewing and projection is essentially provided by the 3D virtual world platform, but the knowledge resource management, including symbols, semantics, and viewpoints, are essentially managed through the DNAOS technology.

By generalizing knowledge resource management, and using a full interactive animated 3D viewing platform, the DNAOS technology supports the integration of all forms of modeling, including 2D diagram based modeling like UML and BPMN. More so, DNAOS technology allows relating, animating, and documenting models dynamically.
