5.1.4. Knowledge Sharing in Interactive Animated 3D
Notations
A text description of a chair is a view of the author's chair concept (e.g. model).
A computer program, in Java, for example, is a view of the programmers' specific application concept (e.g. model).
UML diagrams could also provide a graphical view of that same application.
Sharing
In these application example, in many cases, the UML diagrams would be used by humans to share knowledge and refine the
application concept,
and the Java program could also be used for humans to share knowledge about the application with the executing computers,
for example.
2D
Both text-based and modeling languages like UML and BPMN, use 2D representations.
To 2D representations are quite useful but as model and viewpoint complexity and diversity increase,
managing all the views and aspects, integrating them to get a better overall understanding
of the components and interaction can get quite demanding.
3D
At some point, 3D modeling becomes a requirement.
3D modeling supports all 2D views, allows their formal integration, 3D viewing (e.g. 3D viewpoints),
as well as full 3D modeling of the resources.
Navigation
In addition, 3D models can be interactively navigated in time and space,
with possibly constantly changing viewpoints.
More so, modeled resources and components, can be animated to better represent the modeled resources
and to better convey their intrinsic semantics (e.g. purpose, meaning, use).
Web 3D
In fact, interactive animated 3D modeling is the richest knowledge resource notation type currently available.
It is also only relatively recently that interactive animated 3D modeling as become commonly possible,
for example through Web-based virtual worlds.
Semantic 3D
Cosmos Square leverages the interactive animated 3D modeling features of existing virtual worlds,
and goes beyond the modeling of "physical" resources to also model abstract concepts, notions, and knowledge.
To do so, Cosmos Square uses DNAOS REMMS technology to virtually and semantically build, manage, entitle, integrate,
project models to views displayed and experienced through virtual world environments.
Knowledge Modeling
With strong logical and natural knowledge architecture foundations,
with deep built-in entitlement, DNAOS technology combined with rich interactive animated 3D,
with physical engines, allows Cosmos Square to represent any knowledge resource,
of any complexity, sophistication, or abstraction level.
Integration
DNAOS is highly distributed integration technology that supports
and integrates information from any accessible sources and source combination.
These sources also include all required 2D views as they can easily be accessed, displayed, updated,
and shared from any surface in the 3D world and space.
Virtual Profiles
DNAOS manages knowledge resources through structured and flexible virtual profiles.
Pipelines
DNAOS technology integrates, processes, and manages virtual profiles by streaming them through high scalability parallel
transformation pipelines.
Relations
All DNAOS managed resources can be related to any number or amount of other resources and information.
DNAOS resource relations are also resources but they also specifically define
and fully qualify relations between related subject and object resources.
Entitlement
Entitlement is a fundamental resource relation quality that defines associated relation authorizations, responsibilities,
and capabilities.
Behavior
By managing and applying specified entitlement, DNAOS ensures deep and rich resource behavior constraints and control,
including access and tracking.
Security
By integrating selective dynamic cryptography, DNAOS technology can provide high levels of privacy and security, while
ensuring optimal sharing of knowledge resources.
Knowledge Navigation
By combining DNAOS knowledge management technology with virtual worlds
and its structuring metaphor, Cosmos Square not only leverages interactive animated 3D modeling of any knowledge resource,
it also allows users to naturally navigate modeled knowledge repositories, interactively, in 3D space.
User Experience
Cosmos Square integrates any number of any modeled knowledge resources,
on any number of topics, in structured 3D space,
allowing users to experience and navigate even the most abstract resources,
in interactive animated 3D.
Real Support in Virtual Worlds
Not only are users supported by an integrating metaphor and a natural structure,
Cosmos Square also provides live human support, "in-world" through avatars, as well as through interactive AI-bots.
Share Knowledge by Experiencing It
One of the main premise of the Cosmos Square project is that there is no better way to understand knowledge resources,
deriving further knowledge, than by experiencing knowledge directly and interactively, through its models and views.
