3.3.4.3. The Origins of Chords

Feeling that everyone was ready to continue, with a sweep of her hand again, SIMPLICITY erased to a pale shadow, all notes with sharps or flats, keeping only the natural notes and adding all their octaves like she had done for the 'D's, also keeping the two axis. The notes were still playing in sequence, but two adjacent ones at a time with all their respective octaves playing simultaneously.

The subscribers were puzzled by the fact that even if all the notes were natural notes, with no flats or sharps, the bottom axis was still ranging from flats on the left to sharps on the right. They also wondered why two notes were playing at a time.

Again feeling that subscribers were ready for more, using a smaller font, SIMPLICITY added a note in the middle, between each adjacent note pair and adding a '5/4' inscription along a segment linking these new notes to the note pair. Also, these new notes started sounding together with their respective note pairs, still sequencing slowly from left to right, to left, etc., in all octaves, with a rich full sound reverberating softly, with majestic grandeur.

Amazed, the subscribers noted that this was how chords were created. When they were ready again, with another hand sweep, SIMPLICITY erased everything to a dim shadow, and silence, except for the first set of 3 columns on the left and walked to one of the tables, where she showed the subscribers, a pair of diagonal arrows, one up to the right and one down to the left, inviting them to touch the arrows.

When a subscriber touched an arrow, to the upper right, for example, the current chord columns faded to shadow and stopped playing, but next chord's 3 columns, in the direction of the arrow, lit-up and played. The subscribers took quite a bit of time to each try all the chords in each direction, but, after a while, feeling that there was much more to come, they returned their attention to SIMPLICITY who was waiting patiently and smiling gently as usual.
